Dairy Cattle

Blog image The farm has a mix of dairy cattle and heifers. The milk production is supplied to coffee shops within Nairobi county, independent buyers and to the Limuru Dairy Farmers Co-operative Society.

Piggery

Blog image This section averages a total of 220 - 250 pigs per month which include sows, boars, piglets, weaners, porkers and baconers. Charoza farm’s greenhouse production that does not make it to the market makes a significant component to the pigs’ diet.

Rabbitry

Blog image This is the newest unit of the farm with a supply capacity of about 100 rabbits per week. They comprise of bucks, does and bunnies. This unit was set-up to tap into the growing and untapped demand for rabbit meat due to its low cholesterol content.

Blog image Tea picking is a key source of casual employment to members of the community.

Horticulture

Blog image Green, red and yellow capsicum and tomatoes are grown in green-houses, each with a controlled and adjustable environment to suit the particular crop. Other crops planted for commercial use are cabbages, kales, spinach, lettuce, cauliflower and broccoli.

Charoza Farm has and continues to uphold a commitment to environment conservation and aims to continue maintaining good farming practices. The values of sustainability, reliability and high quality and quantity organic produce is and continues to inform the farming practice adopted in the farm.
